A revamped music venue that hosted shows by jazz stars like Jamie Cullum and Amy Winehouse.
In upscale Knightsbridge, British designer Fox Linton revamped this 1920s Art Deco townhouse overlooking Hyde Park into a bastion of Old World glamour. The spirit of the building’s past life as Pizza on the Park at Hyde Park Corner, a music venue that hosted shows by jazz stars like Jamie Cullum and Amy Winehouse, lives on in the lounge that puts on live performances. At the cigar terrace, an imposing painting of Winston Churchill resides over black leather Chesterfield sofas, while a heated section outside is appointed with the largest bespoke humidor in the U.K. (Order from the robust selection of Cognacs and whiskies at the Crystal Bar first.) The vibe lightens in the Italian-focused Oval Restaurant, where cream buttoned banquettes, pink leather mahogany chairs, and a glittering chandelier outfit the main dining room. The 36 neutral-hued guestrooms have a residential feel, with sleek black-and-white marble bathrooms stocked with Hermès products. To experience the ultimate amenity, guests take a side trip to the South of France, where the hotel’s refurbished 1920s Italian yacht is parked in the Mediterranean Sea.
