The sense of contagious energy in Tribeca is palpable every night of the year at the Smyth.
When the Tribeca Film Festival unfolds in the downtown New York neighborhood of the same name, the area’s hotels, restaurants, and bars are abuzz with reveling cinephiles. However, that sense of contagious energy is palpable every night of the year at the Smyth, part of the Thompson Hotels collection. Power chef Andrew Carmellini decided to expand his restaurant empire here with the seasonally minded Little Park and dark, dreamy Evening Bar, and locals have poured in swooning over the food and drink. Those who can’t score seats inside one of these lairs are happy to idle in the Den, drinking cocktails in front of a fireplace. Spending the night here is just as rewarding. The 100 rooms, revamped by local firm Gachot Studios, are neutral-hued and airy, with contemporary wood headboards and marble bathrooms featuring rainfall showers. Along with a living area and dining room table, the spacious Penthouse also features a 1,200-square-foot terrace that showcases a much-needed slice of alfresco tranquility.
