The Mondrian’s prime location on the Sunset Strip puts the best of L.A. at your fingertips: it’s close to major attractions like Fox Studios, Paramount Pictures, Rodeo Drive, and Santa Monica. Designer Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz spearheaded the hotel’s renovation, giving it a more relaxed vibe, yet it still drips with Hollywood glamour—the ivy-covered rooftop pool lounge, Skybar, is an A-list magnet. Still, many of the hangouts are low-key, like the whimsical Sayulita, an open-air taqueria and tequila bar with mismatched lawn furniture and oversized ceramic pots. Chef Brian Malarkey heads the California cuisine restaurant Ivory On Sunset, which is a collaboration between John Terzian of The h.wood Group, Built Inc. and Hakkasan Group, and takes full advantage of Mondrian Los Angeles’s classic setting, famed heritage and panoramic views of the city. The stark white guest rooms have a clean-lined aesthetic, including sustainable bamboo floors, textured wallpaper, and offbeat furniture; floor-to-ceiling windows showcase a panorama of Hollywood. Stainless-steel fixtures and a large, basin-style sink embellish the Silestone-tiled bathrooms, which are bedecked with a glam mirror that doubles as a flat-screen TV.
