This historic Hollywood dreamboat of a hotel is all about old-fashioned luxury made fresh. Named after U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt, this hotel went up in 1927 on Hollywood Boulevard and has hosted the likes of Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe. In 2015, it underwent a $25 million renovation spearheaded by Yabu Pushelberg, and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel stepped into the spotlight of all things glam and celebrity. One of the hotel’s main attractions is Teddy’s, a fresh, exclusive bar frequented by the vibrant Hollywood youth scene. Visitors, after a dip in the famous pool with its mural by David Hockney, should check out the poolside, velvet-roped Tropicana Bar. Hollywood Roosevelt also offers the poshest 24-hour diner in Los Angeles, 25 Degrees, which some say has the state’s most exquisite hamburger. In public spaces, handsome dark wood and leather furnishings contrast with the lighter stone walls, all illuminated by warm lights under the high ceilings, and the lobby has held on to its original Spanish fountain. Stylish guest rooms keep a breezy look with Spanish-inspired design; a palette of soft grays, browns, and maroon styles the walls and dark-wood furniture. Sliding wood doors with windows also keep the space feeling open and light, and add to the Spanish mood. Cowskin rugs in the poolside cabana rooms complete the look.
