A cult nightlife group opens a “bed and beverage.”

Childhood friends Romée de Goriainoff, Pierre-Charles Cros, and Olivier Bon made their mark on the international mixology scene when Experimental Cocktail Club made its Paris debut in 2007. The cult spot later expanded to London, New York, and Ibiza. After their runaway success, the trio turned to the boutique hotel industry, opening the Grand Pigalle Hotel in Paris’s former red light district. The self-proclaimed “bed and beverage” takes the concept of hotel bar to a new level, including in-room bar carts and housemade bottled mixed drinks. Parisian designer Dorothée Meilichzon is behind the playful interiors that reference cocktail insignia, from gold pineapple door knockers to her own custom-woven martini carpet in the corridors. Aged and textured wallpaper lines the walls in the 37 rooms, which are appointed with round-edged headboards and midcentury brass lamps. Downstairs, clubby interiors feature blue moulded walls and antique-styled tile floors in the restaurant, where chef Giovanni Passerini turns out nouveau bistro dishes flecked with techniques that trace back to his Italian origins. When exploring the Pigalle nieghborhood’s renaissance loses its appeal, the hotel has a restored Citroen DS ready to whisk guests around the City of Light. To the original ECC in Les Halles, perhaps?
